Tatsuya Kataoka has had quite an illustrious racing career spanning karts, single-seaters and GT cars. He made his competitive debut in 1992 and dominated the local kart scene before competing in Formula Toyota and Japanese Formula 3 with impressive results. He moved into GT car racing in 2003, but continued racing in single-seaters in Formula Nippon. 

A long-time Toyota-supported driver, Kataoka is deeply involved in the Toyota Driver Development Programme as both a driver and a trainer. Joining the PETRONAS Syntium Team driver ranks since 2008, Kataoka brings with him a wealth of experience and has been part of the team's continuous success in Super Taikyu.
